I began studying the life and oeuvre of this young art photographer, Lene Marie Fossen (1986-2019, Norway), and I knew I had to paint her. This is an homage I make to her.

I’ve mentioned in some descriptions of my work my artistic interests in abnormality. So, sickness and its impact on human experience is one of my interests. I made this work with deep respect and admiration towards this woman and artist who chose, as her artistic topic, among others, to auto-photograph herself in an ancestral, abandoned leprosarium in Chios, Greece. This is while suffering from anorexia.

In 2022, the Museum im Lagerhaus, Switzerland, opened the exhibition entitled Human to commemorate this artist and her work.
