Description
Title: And We Loved Each Other So Much, Study 7
Artist: Veronica Huacuja
Medium: Acrylic on paper
Size: 59 x 35 x 0.1 cm
Year: 2020
Collection: Women
I based the artwork on a true crime documentary where a love story went terribly wrong. I made up the work with deep respect for the implicated young woman.
What inspired the title of this work is Ettore Scola’s film, “We All Loved Each Other So Much” (C’eravamo tanto amati, 1974). I think its poetry, used in a different context, helps the artwork to expose its own drama.
As a creator, one thing I associated while making up the piece was Frida Kahlo’s artwork, “Unos cuantos piquetitos” (Just Some Small Stabbings, https://rb.gy/4wxhoo).
