I watched a public video with bated breath, captivated by the sight of an ailing butoh dancer moving slowly across the stage in an extraordinary gesture. The dancer’s movements held a profound power, an intense physicality. I perceived her as a demigod.

Inspired and moved by this encounter, I embarked on creating her sculpture.
