Our throw pillows are made from 100% spun polyester poplin fabric and add a stylish statement to any room. Pillows are available in sizes from 14" x 14" up to 26" x 26". This work has an interesting process. I have been studying Alphonse Bertillon’s (1853-1914, France) work. As we may know, he was a police officer “and biometrics researcher who applied the anthropological technique of anthropometry to law enforcement, creating an identification system based on physical measurements”. (1)

Bertillon also photographed the offenders to identify them (he captured their profile and front views). Nowadays, we know these techniques as mugshots.

I produced a series of three busts based on several mugshots done by Bertillon to offenders almost a hundred years ago. In “The Dormants”, I incorporated Bertillon’s characters in a new environment, adding to their garment eccentric hats, emulating Lewis Carroll’s version of the mad hatter, and giving the...
