We have to learn so much from the masters of painting. Diego Velázquez (1599-1660, Spain) is one of the great masters of portraiture. In one of his masterpieces, made to Pope Innocent X–famous for his harsh hand using his political power–, what caught my interest besides the amazing reflection of the powerful personality of the historical character that the painter captured, were his eyes.
So, I made my character a blind one, if the eyes were the thing that most affected me in Velazquez’s work.
In 2020, this work got a Special Recognition made by Light Space and Time Online Gallery.
